Deadline Extended for PMEAT Stipend Applications

The deadline for online applications for stipends under the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust (PMEAT) for the 2022–23 academic year has been extended to May 22. This extension allows additional time for eligible students enrolled in undergraduate (pass) and equivalent level programs to submit their applications.

In addition, the deadline for heads of educational institutions to forward these applications through the PMEAT’s e-Stipend Management System has been pushed to 11:59 PM on June 1. The National University announced the decision in an official letter issued on Tuesday, May 20, responding to growing demands from students and institutions for more time to complete the application process.

The stipend program is designed to support meritorious students from financially disadvantaged families studying at colleges affiliated with the National University. Eligible students may receive monthly stipends, tuition fee waivers, and other financial benefits to help continue their education. Applications must be submitted online via the PMEAT portal at https://estipend.pmeat.gov.bd, and students are encouraged to ensure the accuracy of their information before the May 22 deadline.

Once students complete their submissions, the applications must be verified and forwarded by the heads of their respective institutions through the e-Stipend Management System. This step is essential for processing and approving the financial aid. The extended forwarding deadline of June 1 gives institutions additional time to complete the verification process.

Previously, the deadline for student applications was May 15, and the forwarding deadline was May 27. The extension was granted to improve accessibility and allow more time for submission amid reported difficulties faced by applicants and administrative staff.

The stipend scheme under the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust is an important initiative aimed at ensuring educational opportunities for underprivileged students across the country. By easing financial burdens, the program plays a key role in reducing dropout rates and supporting academic progress for thousands of students every year.

Education authorities are urging both students and educational institutions to make use of the revised deadlines to complete the necessary steps in time and avoid last-minute issues.
