Dhaka University’s Shamsunnahar Hall Grants Scholarships to 41 Students

Shamsunnahar Hall at Dhaka University (DU) has honored a total of 41 meritorious students with three distinguished scholarships: the Fatema Iqbal Trust Fund Scholarship, the Shahidul Haque Memorial Scholarship, and the Provost Scholarship, in recognition of their academic excellence and commitment to higher education.
The announcement was made through an official press release issued by the Public Relations Office of Dhaka University on Monday. The awards ceremony took place on Sunday evening at the hall auditorium, where recipients were presented with scholarship cheques during a formal event.
Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Treasurer of Dhaka University, was present at the ceremony as the chief guest and personally handed over the scholarship cheques to the awardees. In his address, he paid deep respect to the memory of Fatema Iqbal, whose trust fund supports outstanding students, and congratulated the recipients. He emphasized that such initiatives not only provide financial support but also serve as a strong motivation for students to pursue academic excellence.
“These scholarships represent more than financial aid—they are a source of encouragement and inspiration. They motivate students to continue striving toward their academic and personal goals,” said Dr. Chowdhury during his speech.
Professor Dr. Nasrin Sultana, Provost of Shamsunnahar Hall, and Dr. Nafiza Ferdousi, a part-time residential teacher and trustee of the Fatema Iqbal Trust Fund, also addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of continued investment in student development.
