For the first time, Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport has launched cargo flights. This is a historic moment for the airport, as the maiden cargo aircraft took off after 54 years of independence. The flight was bound for Spain, marking the first cargo trade from Sylhet.
This move came as an effort to find an alternative to India’s transshipment facilities, which were suspended last month. However, it has opened a new gateway for trade in Bangladesh. It is specially a boon for local exporters who had to shipproducts through Dhaka due to the lack of cargo flights in Sylhet.
