Leaves are the main element of nature. Through the chlorophyll photosynthesis, leaves absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. This process helps to keep balance everything in our planet.
Scientists are working tirelessly to invent new creations. This time, ResearcherEngineer Julian Melchiorri has designed an artificial biological leaf which mimics a real green leaf by using silk protein and chloroplasts. The project is called Silk Leaf.
According to team, Nature was their inspiration. First they followed the real photosynthesis process and then did a lot of tests and experiments to get this amazing result.
Like a real leaf, it can absorb water and carbon dioxide from air also can produce oxygen by using sunlight. The Silk leaf is capable to produce oxygen, energy and chemical also helpful for air purification.
The goal of making this leaf is to use this artificial leaves on space and supply oxygen. Researcher have proved that a single leaf can produce sufficient amount of oxygen. Melchiorri’s aims to bring oxygen on space and provide fresh air qualities, clean energy in cities.
