Nowadays, content creating has become a popular new profession. Many people use platforms like YouTube, Instagram and TikTok to share videos, photos and ideas. This job not only allows creativity but also helps people earn money through ads, sponsorships and partnerships. Content creating is quickly turning into a reliable way to make a living.
Billal Hossain, a boy from Nakla, Sherpur. Once earning just 10,000 Taka a month as a hotel worker. Now brings in several lakhs monthly through his videos on Facebook.
Billal’s journey has been anything but ordinary. He is now a popular content creator on Facebook, with his page “Thoughts of Billal” attracting almost 3 million followers. His storytelling, distinguished by poetic and rhythmic language, has garnered millions of views and a consistent income.
He is the son of a farmer, was born in the village of Hujurikanda. He completed his SSC in 2013 and his HSC in 2015. Later, he enrolled in a BSc program while also tutoring students to support himself. In 2019, he joined a hotel management course, hoping for a better future.
In 2020, he went to Cox’s Bazar looking for work and managed to get a hotel job with a modest salary of 10,000 Taka. But when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, he lost that job. In desperation, he tried to go abroad even paying 60,000 Taka to a broker but he was scammed.
Still determined, Billal returned to Cox’s Bazar in 2021 and found another hotel job, this time earning 8,000 Taka per month. During this time, he began observing guests carefully learning about their behavior, manners and preferences. In his free time, he read newspapers, watched cooking videos and experimented in the kitchen.
In late 2023, Billal started a Facebook page named Thoughts of Billal, where he initially posted videos featuring cooking and stories from his personal life. Later, he shifted to short reels with poetic narration which quickly went viral.
By August 2024, Billal had grown so popular that he decided to quit his hotel job to focus entirely on content creation. His follower count jumped from 300,000 to nearly 3 million in just a few months. That same month, he earned 800,000 Taka from Facebook. His earnings continued to grow hitting 1.5 million in December, 1.6 million in January and continuing to bring in high numbers through early 2025.
Billal now works with Rakibul Hasan, a former hotel colleague who earns a 50,000 Taka salary helping him produce content. Many of Billal’s videos feature stories of struggling individuals and when viewers send donations, he ensures the money reaches those in need often posting follow-up videos for transparency.
Billal credits his success to his mother. At the beginning of his journey, he needed a smartphone but couldn’t afford one. His mother sold a calf and gave him 18,500 Taka which he used to buy his first phone the turning point in his life.
Billal’s story teaches us that, regardless of life’s difficulties, continuing to try and having faith in yourself can transform your future. From a small hotel job to becoming a famous creator, he proved that anyone can succeed with hard work and hope. His journey serves as a reminder to always keep pursuing your dreams.
