Qatar Airways, Boeing’s biggest even order for widebody aircraft and GE Aerospace’s largest ever deal for widebody aircraft engines.
The Boeing agreement involves a potential acquisition of 210 aircraft. This substantial order includes 130 787 Dreamliner’s, setting a new benchmark as the largest Dreamliner order to date, and 30 777-9 aircraft. Furthermore, the deal allows for the future purchase of 50 optional Boeing 787 and 777-9 aircraft.
GE Aerospace has reached an agreement to provide over 400 of its GE9X and GEnx aircraft engines.
During President Trump’s meeting with his highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, several agreements were announced.
Qatar Airways has finalized its biggest aircraft purchase ever with Boeing, acquiring a record setting order of up to 210 wide-body jets. This substantial agreement, consisting of 160 firm orders and 50 options, represents the largest wide-body and 787 Dreamliner deal in Boeing’s history supporting Qatar Airways’ ongoing fleet expansion strategy.
In addition, Qatar Airways finalized a landmark agreement with GE Aerospace, securing over 400 engines to power its upcoming Boeing 777-9 and Boeing 787 wide-body aircraft. This unprecedented order includes 60 GE9X engines and 260 GEnx engines, along with options for more and spare parts. This represents the largest wide-body engine purchase in GE Aerospace’s history.

The orders include 30 of the 787 Dreamliner series, which are highly efficient, long-range widebody aircraft known for their 25% improvement in fuel consumption and enhanced passenger comfort.
Additionally, 30 of the 777-9s are of the order. These are the world’s largest twin-engine airplanes, designed to significantly reduce fuel usage and emissions by 25% compared to previous models, while also greatly improving the passenger experience. And an additional 50 787 and 777X airplanes as options.
GE Aerospace is deepening its involvement in Qatar’s dynamic aviation industry with new agreements. These latest deals significantly boost the previous order for GE9X engines, bringing the total to 248 from an initial 188. They also supplement an existing order of 124 GEnx engines for the Boeing 787 fleet, reaffirming the national airline’s commitment to efficiency and high performance. A key component of these two agreements is the inclusion of service contracts for the ongoing maintenance, repair, and overhaul of both the GEnx and GE9X engines.
Afterwards, Qatar Airways already boasts one of the most up-to-date fleets in the airline industry, and these landmark orders with Boeing and GE Aerospace will cement that leading position for many years ahead.
